Bluestar 2013
Our Action Plan 2013
Here is the action plan we submitted to the project team:
Historical: Children will use the school website to showcase an historical project focusing on the events surrounding World War 1 and World war 11 leading to the eventual development of the EU and culminating in the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the EU this year.
Geographical: Pupils in the class will research EU countries and develop short presentations on each with the aim of presenting a ‘picture’ of the country. Presentations will be uploaded to a ‘Blue Star’ section of the school website. These presentations will be a future resource for geography in the school.
Cultural: For this section we will concentrate on a number of well-known European artists. We will investigate their work and create work of our own based/inspired by their work. We will create a gallery on our website of this visual art. We will endeavour to include work from each strand of the Visual Arts Curriculum. Artists will include Paul Klee, Piet Mondrian & Picasso.
Institutional: For this section we will:
I. Prepare a debate on a suitable issue connected with the EU.
II. Write to our MEPs (with a questionnaire about their jobs) and invite them to the school for a visit.
Celebration: We will hold a Europe Day celebration to showcase the children's work and launch the “Blue Star” section of the school website where all PowerPoint presentations etc will be displayed. Children's art work will be exhibited. The local community will be invited and we will publicize the event (before and after) in the local press.
