Sunshine and Crowds at Knockconan Fun Run
The sun came out and so did the crowds at Knockconan National School on Sunday when the third annual Fun Run took place. This year was the first time the Pat Mc Caffrey Memorial trophies and medals were presented. Sponsored by local man Willie Mc Carthy the trophies were presented by Willie Mc Carthy, Patsy and Mrs Mc Caffrey and Sean Mc Caffrey of Northern Sound radio.
The run took participants along a beautiful scenic rural route east of the N2.
The Fun Run saw a great turn out from families and the local community to raise funds for the school. The school wishes to thank all those from the parents association, the board, the staff and the community who helped to make the Fun Run such a success.
We would like to thank sincerely all our sponsors: Combilift, Willie Mc Carthy, AIB Bank, Emyvale Credit Union, Mc Mahon's Emyvale, Lidl, Glendun, Leo Daly-SuperValu Aughnacloy, Linwoods, Terry’s Taxis and all parents who contributed and helped in so many ways such as donating food, prizes and goodies or by taking part.
Participants were rewarded with refreshments courtesy of the parents and goodie bags sponsored by AIB with contents sponsored by Emyvale Credit Union. The event concluded with a raffle for numerous excellent prizes. First prize, a signed Monaghan Team jersey and tracksuit bottoms donated by Patricia Feely was won by one of the school's grandads, John Daly. Other prizes were donated by Eileen Collins, Megan Davidson, Nora Mc Carey and many other parents who donated boxes of sweets, bottles of brandy, wine and many other prizes. Everyone is looking forward to the next Fun Run in May 2017.
