Green Schools - Global Citizenship - Litter and Waste
There are seven steps
Step 1. Establish A Green Team or Eco-Committee.
The Green Schools Committee is pictured on the right at their meeting on 16th March which just happened to be Green Day in the school. The committee could not meet during Covid restrictions but it has been meeting every week since they were lifted Step 2. Adopt An Environmental Vision Statement or Planet Pledge "Going Global, Acting Locally" Step 3. Conduct A School Environmental Survey or Audit
This was written in September 2020. View it here on the right >>>> |

Step 4. Create A Green School Action Plan - our action plan is a living document which means that we created it in September 2020 but we added some things along the way. View it on the right >>
Step 5. Monitor and Evaluate Progress
We took lots of photos (see below) of our activities. We wrote about them and discussed them. We asked our bin company to send us information on the weight of our bins for every collection over the last two years Step 6. Initiate Greening into the Curriculum We all did lots of curriculun activities and projects - for example this year each classroom had at least one project on different aspects of Green Schools:
This web site is one of the ways we share our work. We also use our school newsletter, Twitter and textaparent. Some new gardening at the school including our school pond. Mr Bucleys room is leading on biodiversity and will be visiting Lough Neagh and Sliabh Beagh soon.
