Active School Committee
A very important partnerships in the Active School Flag programme is with the collaboration with pupils of the school. Our Active School committee do a great job promoting active initiatives in our school and ensuring that everyone is encouraged to be as active as possible! The team organise regular meetings with our teacher representatives to identify priorities, offer recommendations, problem-solve any issues and plan new ideas and initiatives. Each committee member is in charge of liaising with designated classes in the whole to ensure that everyone’s feedback is taken on board. This ensures that the Active School Flag process is inclusive of everybody.
In relation to our Active School Slogan we held a competition across the whole school. Students were given the opportunity to design their own slogan. When all slogans were collected our active school committee members chose their favourite slogan. Our winner was Harry in 6th class with ‘Active school means active kids!’

Partnership with parents
Parents are a very important part of the Active School process. Parents are kept updated on the Active School process through discussing it with their children and the school newsletters home from the Active School committee. Parents play a very important role in ensuring their children have the clothes and equipment needed for P.E. and any other physical activities taking place in the school. They also support us in promoting the message that children need to be physically active for sixty minutes per day by bringing their children to after school physical activities, going for walks. homework journals each day.
Local Sports & Clubs
We have a strong partnership with our local GAA club Truagh Gaels. This year we completed a 6-week coaching programme in the school focusing on the basic skills of Gaelic football. The students thoroughly enjoyed this experience and many thanks to the coaches of Truagh Gaels who volunteered their time for this project

Monaghan Sports Partnership
We were delighted this year to work with the Monaghan Sports Partnership and take part in so many of their fun school initiatives. In conjunction with Monaghan Sports Partnership this year we delivered a 6-week course for the students on the fundamental skills in sports such as Volleyball, Athletics, Badminton, Gymnastics and Tug of War. We also took part in a whole school initiative called Marathon Kids in which every student in the school took part in daily walks and runs which added up to the distance of a full marathon. This was a great success and enjoyed by all students.
